At Montrose we have a variety of groups and classes (listed below). These are organised to offer information throughout pregnancy, support for breastfeeding and so you can meet other mums. We hope you can find something in our busy programme that suits your needs.
Please contact the unit for dates and times of all sessions. If group sessions are unsuitable, individual sessions can be arranged for you; please discuss this with your midwife.
Preparation for Parenthood
Being pregnant and becoming a parent are among the most important things that can happen to you. To assist you in the preparation for birth and parenthood, we provide a series of informal workshops. Coming along to the sessions will enable you to make choices regarding the birth and help prepare you for the transition into parenthood. These classes not only help you focus on your pregnancy and birth, but are also a great way of meeting other parents-to-be.
The Preparation for Parenthood sessions are on Tuesday evenings, at Montrose Maternity Unit, and birth partners and friends are welcome. The workshops include:
• Role of the birth supporter
• Preparing for birth
• Skills for new parents
• Getting off to a good start – breastfeeding workshop
• Relaxation techniques
Relaxation
Every Friday afternoon at Montrose Maternity Unit from 2-3pm for all pregnant women. Regular attendance is recommended. The cost is £1. Find out more about why we offer this important service here.
Breastfeeding Workshop
Breastfeeding is beneficial for you and your baby and the aim of these workshops is to help you feed successfully. The sessions are relaxed and informal and hopefully fun. Montrose has achieved ‘Baby Friendly Accreditation’ and we implement the Baby Friendly Initiative's Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding.
