New year dip for Montrose

Eight hardy souls braved freezing temperatures on New Year's Day when they took a dip in the North Sea for Montrose Maternity!
This was the third year the group of friends had fundraised in this way, and they say they are now geared up for this becoming an annual event. Bemused onlookers as well as an assortment of family and friends gave generously, and raised over £200 for the unit.
The picture (left) shows Scott O'Hara presenting the money on behalf of the group to midwifery team leader Phyllis Winters (centre) and midwife Shona Pert.
Phyllis said, "Montrose Maternity benefits so much from the very generous and often imaginative fundraising efforts of local people. With our minds now firmly focused on making the current unit as comfortable for women as possible, we are very grateful to everyone who participated in and contributed to the dip."
