Praise for Baby Friendly Montrose

NHS Tayside's Breastfeeding Coordinator has congratulated Montrose midwives on being re-accredited by the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly initiative for best practice in the support of breastfeeding.
Janet Dalzell said the unit had achieved a full pass on all steps of a recent baby friendly audit. The unit has been accredited since 1998 and mums using the facility are regularly asked details of their care to make sure the midwives are doing as much as they can to support breastfeeding. This includes skin to skin contact following the birth, keeping mum and baby together, offering help and showing mum how to position and attach the baby to her breast.
Midwifery team leader Phyllis Winters said, "Montrose midwives are delighted to have passed the audit, and would like to thank all the mums who took part. We will continue to strive to maintain the honour of Baby Friendly status."
