Awards for All funds yogabirth classes

MUMs (Maternity Users Montrose) say they are "thrilled" to get a Big Lottery Awards for All grant for yogabirth classes.

The award means that pregnant women in Angus and the surrounding areas will be able to attend pregnancy yoga classes - including yoga, birth preparation and relaxation - free of charge. The classes are organised through the MUMs group, and are available to all women after 16 weeks of pregnancy right through to when they have their babies.

Two classes will be held at Montrose Maternity Unit on Saturday mornings, from 09.30-11.00 and 11.30-13.00. Booking is essential and you do not need to have any previous yoga experience. The classes will be led by Emily Miscioscia, a qualified pregnancy yoga teacher. For more information or to book a class email Emily or call her on 01674 673043.

Yoga is a recommended form of exercise in pregnancy. It can bring about a feeling of wellbeing, give women confidence in giving birth and encourage a quicker return to fitness postnatally. The classes also give pregnant women an opportunity to meet one another. Guest speakers such as homeopaths, midwives, hypnobirthing practitioners and local mums will also discuss topics relevant to pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
