Arbroath midwives have discovered their reputation for good service has spread further than they expected, with a family travelling from Aldershot so their first child could be born in the town's maternity unit.
Leanne and Danny McDermid, who live in Aldershot, had heard about the unit from family members, and Danny liked the idea of their baby being born in his home town. The couple decamped to Arbroath in early April as the baby was expected any time from the 19th. Chloe was born in Abroath on 22nd April weighing 3280g (7lb 2oz). The new family travelled back to Aldershot three days later.
In a message to the midwives Leanne said, "Thank you so much for looking after us so well! It has definitely been worth driving 500 miles, and you've made Danny's dreams come true." The midwives also expressed their appreciation to Leanne and Danny, and wished them much enjoyment with baby Chloe.
