Believe in Birth "the very best so far"

Montrose midwives opened their doors again this week to students from across Scotland for the unit's annual 'Believe in Birth' study day.

Student midwives at the event on Thursday described it as "motivational", "inspirational" and "a reminder that women and midwives can achieve wonderful birthing experiences in the right environment".

Montrose midwives believe the day is an important opportunity for student midwives to be revitalised and recharged for a career in holistic, woman-centred care. The midwives gave talks, held workshops and facilitated discussions as well as providing delicious home baking. Osteopath Craig Coman gave an insightful talk on 'fear versus the uterus' and Anne and Iain Hingston, whose daughter Lottie was born in Montrose, told their special story.

The midwives feel this year's event proved to be "the very best so far". If you are a student midwife and would like to attend Believe in Birth 2012, keep an eye on the website and we will post details at a later date.

I would just like to thank the Montrose midwives for a wonderful day. They were very inspiring and I am very grateful to them for opening their doors to us. You continue to prove that normality can be achieved! I hope one day I can work within such an effective and motivational team! I am looking forward to next years student day! Thanks again!
