Montrose midwife Kate McNicol has been nominated by a local mother for the 2008 'Midwife of the Year' award.
In her letter of congratulations, Kate was told that eleven regional finalists will be selected on 15th August, with one overall winner. The awards ceremony is on 1st October at sponsor Mamas and Papas Head Office in Huddersfield. Kate says, "It came as a shock, and I feel humbled that one of our mums has nominated me for this award."
Kate completed her midwifery training at Perth in 1989 and has worked in Angus since then, with the last fifteen and a half years at Montrose Maternity Unit. She says, "I enjoy working at Montrose because for me this is what midwifery is all about - supporting women from early pregnancy through to their postnatal days and providing them with the necessary knowledge that allows them to make decisions about their care."
