Previous experiences

Take some time to reflect on your previous birth(s). Think about the things you found helpful and the things you found less helpful. If you have unanswered questions from a previous birth, now is the time to discuss them with your midwife.

Remember that all labours and births are different and that first babies usually take longer to be born than subsequent ones. Even if things didn't go to plan last time, in the majority of cases they run smoothly next time. It is important for you to understand your experience so that you can make informed decisions for this one. Reviewing previous birth records with your midwife may be helpful.

If, on the other hand, your last labour was very quick don't worry if this one takes a little bit longer. Women experience different normal births with different normal babies.
