We offer you one-to-one support during labour and the option of having more than one birth partner.  

Supportive birth partners who believe in you and who understand straightforward birth are worth their weight in gold.  Why? For further information see the MIDIRS Informed Choice leaflet number 1 ‘Support in labour’. 

Some people like their birth to be a very private experience, others find it supportive to have family and friends around. In Angus, you are welcome to have more than one birth partner if you feel it will make you feel more secure and your birth more straightforward.

Midwifery students are welcome in Angus. We know it is one of the few places where they will have the opportunity to gain experience of straightforward birth without medical intervention, including birth in different positions and on the floor. (We will respect whatever decision you make about the level of involvement of a student in your birth.)

In many cases, fathers play a significant part in supporting mums through pregnancy, birth and beyond, but fathers often don’t get the support they need. Angus midwives are working to include dads. You might find the following links of interest:
